Why Zoom?

Because of the nature of my work I am often involved in discussions about the cost of a Zoom solution for one company or another. Sometimes I hear customers remark that it is "waaay too expensive". I agree that the sums can seem indecent at times, but let's do the maths... In other words, let's "get out the calculator".

So, we are talking about companies, and most importantly about people.. Through the prism of company management we will talk about the “payroll budget”. And we will try to be as cynical as possible. After all, any employer pays us a salary not for our “pretty eyes” but on the basis of how much profit we bring to their company.

Every employee of every company is constantly involved in communication inside and/or outside that very company. The accountant filing the balance sheet, who is finding out which material resources were purchased/spent inside the marketing department. Salespeople talking to a customer.
Managers.

In other words, the employees' “product” is the result of communication inside and/or outside the company.

Communication itself is a slow and expensive product, and it is often connected with moving a body through space. To negotiations with a customer, to the neighbouring office for an internal meeting and so on and so forth.

And whatever anyone may tell you, the most effective way of communicating is a face-to-face meeting over a̶ ̶g̶l̶a̶s̶s̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶s̶o̶u̶p̶ a cup of coffee. The most effective and THE MOST EXPENSIVE!

As an example, let's take an employee who takes home 120 000 rubles. For the company the payroll cost of this employee will be around 180 000 rubles (yes, yes – such are our taxes!). The employee works on average 22 working days a month and 8 hours a day and costs the company about 1000 rubles an hour. So if the employee went to a meeting with a customer "on foot" and spent 2 hours getting to the client's office and back, the organisation paid 2000 rubles out of its own pocket "for the time spent travelling" (the realities of Moscow). What is more, during that time the employee will most likely be unable to carry out any other duties. A face-to-face meeting costs the company half a working day and 2000 rubles of direct expenses! Of course, if the value of the goods produced by the employee runs to millions of rubles, this sum can be neglected. But as a rule the value of a deal, and especially the profit on a deal, is completely different. And many organisations that keep track of working time know this.

Zoom makes it possible to cut down the time employees spend moving "through space" and, thanks to this, not only to reduce the company's direct expenses but also to make a profit, because the employee will spend those same 2 hours from my example far more effectively.

Customers who work with us are surprised at first that we turn down face-to-face meetings and suggest communicating remotely. Yes, yes, colleagues, this comes precisely from the idea that the amount of our deal is less than $1M.

But on the other hand, we are always in touch and ready to help. Which means that the effectiveness of our team tends towards the Absolute!

As for me... Out of old habit I am still invited to trade shows and conferences. I do not go there either, for the same reason..
