How a webinar differs from a meeting, how many attendees fit and how to buy in Russia.
A webinar is an event with speakers and an audience. The audience does not see or hear each other; they get chat, questions and polls. A meeting is the opposite: everyone is equal and everyone can speak.
Webinars are not part of the meetings licence. They are a separate product and separate money: the licence is counted per host, not per attendee.
A full comparison of the two formats is in Zoom Meeting versus Zoom Webinar.
| Level | Format | What it adds |
|---|---|---|
| Webinars | Broadcast | Chat, reactions, polls, questions and answers, branded backgrounds, audience reports |
| Webinars Plus | Event | Live-style recording, a backstage for speakers, a scene studio, an event page, AI processing of recordings |
| Events | Conference | Several stages at once, tickets, a lobby, an expo, networking, hybrid format |
Zoom's public plans are built for events of up to 500 attendees. Beyond that, capacity is bought in packages, up to tens of thousands; that is priced against the task.
Branded events live on Zoom Sessions, multi-session conferences on Zoom Events.
What it costs in your case depends on the level, the number of hosts and the capacity. Call us or leave a request — we will work out what fits. The order of magnitude for every direction is on the pricing page.
The host, co-hosts and panelists, and the audience. A panelist can be promoted from the audience and demoted again — participant control works both ways.
A separate Q&A window where a moderator works through the queue. Polls are launched as you go and show the result immediately. How to hold a room's attention is covered in keeping attendees engaged.
The recording goes locally or to the cloud; speech transcription and translated captions turn the broadcast into text. For a foreign audience there is simultaneous interpretation.
A webinar can be pushed to third-party services and a CDN — to a corporate portal, a video service, your own page.
Noise suppression cuts background on the speaker's side. The rest is not the platform but the setting: the microphone, the room, headphones instead of speakers. Covered in five tips for good sound.
Registration is half the point of a webinar. Zoom gives you a registration form, a branded page, email templates, corporate styling and a vanity URL instead of an impersonal link.
After the broadcast the reports remain: who registered, who turned up, how long they stayed, what they asked. Registration source tracking shows which channel brought a live audience and which one brought only clicks.
A webinar that falls apart almost never falls apart because of the platform. It falls apart because a speaker sees the interface for the first time ten minutes before going live, the deck will not open, and the wrong microphone is selected.
That is what Zoom's practice session is for: a mode where the host and the speakers are already inside and the audience has not been let in. A run-through takes half an hour and removes most of the risk.
We do this for you: we set the event up, rehearse with the speakers and stay on the line during the broadcast. Tips for running webinars are collected separately, but somebody else's checklist is no substitute for a person on call.
Webinars live in the same account as meetings: the same users and policies, the same single sign-on, the same choice of data storage region and the same encryption on by default. There is no second system to configure.
The load of large broadcasts inside a network is taken off by Zoom Mesh: the stream is distributed between participants instead of each of them pulling it separately from the internet. The channel is checked before going live with a connectivity test.

A Russian bank card is declined on the Zoom site. Companies buy licences under contract through a partner — the procedure is described on How to pay for Zoom from Russia.
RightConf signs a contract in roubles, provides closing documents, selects the level and capacity for the event, sets up registration and branding, runs the rehearsal and stays on call during the broadcast. Why this rarely works out in house is covered in why rolling out Zoom on your own tends to fail.
We are one of Zoom's first partners worldwide and its only partner in Russia. We work in Russia, the CIS countries and Europe. Leave a request — we will discuss the event and price the configuration. Who we are is on about us.
No. A meeting holds up to 1000 participants on the top plan, but all of them are equal: they turn on cameras and microphones. The "speakers and audience" format comes only with a webinar licence.
The public plans are built for events of up to 500 attendees. Larger capacity is bought in packages.
No. An attendee joins by link, from a browser or the app.
The recording is saved locally or to the cloud and gets a transcript and a link. How to choose where it goes is in recording meetings locally or to the cloud.
Tickets and a lobby exist at the Events level. How the money is collected in Russia is a separate conversation — write to us.
We'll give you a remote demo Monday to Friday, 10:00–16:00 Moscow time, answer all your questions and provide trial access so you can explore the system yourself.
