This article is for the owners of medium-sized and large companies who are only planning to buy the zoom service. Organizations sometimes buy the zoom platform on their own and do not ask for support. A month or two later they come back saying: " We bought the zoom platform and thought that everything would take off and start working for us, but that is not happening." We want to help those who decide on a do-it-yourself deployment and describe the five most common reasons for failure.
Five reasons why you fail to deploy the zoom platform on your own.
Reason number one: insufficient capacity of the internal data transmission network (aka the internet). When the platform is used, peak loads can reach 40 Gb/sec, depending on the number of users. It is important to prepare the network for such loads.
Reason number two. There is no clear understanding of the product being purchased. As a consequence, there is no deployment plan and no monitoring of the effectiveness of the deployment.
Rolling out a pilot deployment makes it possible to get around this problem. During testing, people get to know the zoom platform and understand which tasks can be solved with this service.
Reason number three. The zoom platform itself is simple, the user interface really is friendly. But it has a large number of options. For five years we have been working with zoom alone and we still keep discovering something new for ourselves. Articles on the internet, publications on the zoom site itself and videos on YouTube will help you master the service on your own. On our blog you will also find many articles about the features of the zoom platform. Studying and mastering the platform on your own takes 30-50 hours.
Reason four: not all of the platform’s capabilities are described even on the zoom site.
If you take a simple plan such as zoom pro, no such problems arise when you use it, and that is its advantage. The disadvantage is that it is a plan with limited functionality. If you picture the zoom service as an iceberg, then the pro plan is only its tip. Using this plan you will never find out what is down in the depths. And in the depths there is integration with a corporate telephone system, deployment of a full stack of servers, and management of a fleet of tablet devices using MDM. There is no public information about these solutions.
Let us move on. What do companies buy and deploy the zoom service for? To increase the efficiency of employees (the word "efficiency" is overused, but here it is very much to the point.) To increase the efficiency of employees, they need to use the zoom platform one hundred percent. This is where the fifth reason for an epic failure emerges: ignoring employee training.
One more important point. You have to deploy the zoom platform and require that it be used. An employee is inert and likes to work the way he is used to. It is up to the company’s management how to use "the carrot and the stick" to make employees more efficient. The tool for this exists, and it works. You just need to use it wisely and achieve better results in your work.
