What Pro gives compared with free Zoom
The main difference is a single one: a group meeting no longer stops after 40 minutes. On Pro it can run for up to 30 hours. Everything Basic has stays: chat, whiteboard, clips, calendar and tasks, up to 100 participants.
On top of that Pro adds:
- cloud recording, 10 GB per licence, with automatic transcription;
- reports: who joined, when they left, how long the meeting lasted;
- Zoom AI meeting summaries;
- live chat support from Zoom.
A licence is needed by the person who schedules meetings. Participants join free of charge and need no account. A department of thirty people where three of them host meetings buys three licences.
What Pro does not have
Pro suits a department or a small company, but it does not replace a corporate plan. The limits are:
- up to 100 participants in a meeting, against 300 on Business;
- no single sign-on (SSO) and no managed domains, so staff sign in with personal accounts;
- no choice of region for data storage and media traffic;
- no device management and no information barriers;
- no more than 99 licences in an account.
