Zoom AI is the platform's shared intelligence layer. AI here is not a separate application you have to go to: the features are built directly into the products — meetings, chat, mail, phone, whiteboard and events — and switch on where you already work. The meeting summary arrives on its own, a draft reply appears in the email window, and you can ask “what did I miss?” without interrupting the speaker.
Zoom's assistant was previously known as AI Companion. Zoom now develops AI in two layers: Zoom AI — the features inside each product, which this page covers, and ZoomMate — a digital teammate that ties together context from all the products and carries work through to a result.
Speech recognition is the foundation of many features: real-time captions, translation into the listener's language, saved transcripts. Summaries, answers to questions, smart recording and action item extraction all run on top of that.

Live captions in meetings and webinars: when audio is poor, the room is noisy or reading is simply easier — the text runs in real time. Local processing directly on the device can also be enabled.
The speaker keeps going while every participant reads captions in the language they choose. An international team works without an interpreter and without “could you repeat that?” pauses.
A saved text record of the meeting: people come back to it after the conversation, and summaries, answers to questions and action items are built from it. The administrator manages retention at the account level.
