The provider goes down, and the crisis team gathers in the same meeting as always, from the same meeting rooms. A Zoom Node in your network keeps meetings running without the cloud for as long as the outage lasts.
Zoom Meeting Survivability is the ability of the Meetings Hybrid module on Zoom Node to run meetings when Zoom's data centres are unreachable: the internet is cut, the provider is down, a backbone is damaged. It is not bought separately, it is built into the module. The node in your network takes participants through the usual links and runs the meeting itself.
What happens in an outage. Running hybrid and private meetings reconnect to the node. Pre-defined "Emergency Response" meetings start in survivable mode. Personal Meeting Rooms designated as survivable work. An ad-hoc meeting can be created and a previously scheduled one held. Inside, host and attendee audio and video controls, content sharing, in-meeting chat and joining from Zoom Rooms are available.
Zoom warns honestly: there are fewer features than usual, because some of them live in the cloud. For emergency and unplanned meetings the join details are handed to people manually. But the length of the outage does not limit the work: outages up to 90 days are supported.
A backup communication system for emergencies usually means a second system nobody knows how to use. Here the backup is the same Zoom.
Employees join the meeting the way they did yesterday. Zoom Rooms connect to the node on their own.
Emergency response meetings are set up before the incident, with fixed IDs. On the day of the outage nobody has to create and send them.
An outage of a day or a month, the node runs the meetings. The stated limit is 90 days.
What works in an outage, what is prepared in advance
Hybrid and private meetings running at the moment of the outage reconnect to the node and continue.

Executives' Personal Meeting Rooms designated as survivable are available in an outage at the usual address.
