A hundred employees at an all-hands is three hundred connections to the cloud. With Meetings Hybrid it is three: a node in your network distributes the media itself, and one consolidated stream goes out.
Zoom Node is Zoom's platform for your data centre: a virtual machine with a hardened operating system image that Zoom manages from the cloud and updates itself, weekly or monthly. Up to four modules are installed on one node, and Meetings Hybrid is the main one.
The module works in two modes. Hybrid: participants in the office connect to the node, it distributes audio, video and screen sharing inside the network, and one consolidated stream goes to the Zoom cloud. For a meeting of a hundred people that is three external connections instead of three hundred. Private: the meeting lives entirely on site, no media goes to the cloud at all. Internal participants connect via a private address, external ones via a public one, and cloud features such as transcription and translation are enabled optionally.
Local survivability is built into both modes: when Zoom's data centres are unreachable, meetings inside the network continue. One node holds up to 400 participants, and modules cascade for large events. Recordings of such meetings can be kept on site with the Recording Hybrid module, and legacy SIP and H.323 room systems join through CRC Hybrid.
Fully cloud Zoom is convenient, but not every regulation and not every link can carry it.

In private mode the meeting's audio and video do not leave the site. The regulator gets an answer in technology, not a promise.
The internet goes down and meetings inside the network go on. Survivability is built into the module, not bought separately.
Modes, capacity, management, neighbouring modules
The node distributes media inside the network and keeps one consolidated connection to the cloud. Every Zoom feature is there, the link is relieved.
The meeting entirely on site, no media in the cloud. Internal participants via a private address, external via a public one.
In private mode transcription, translation and other cloud features can be enabled separately, if the rules allow.
