Enhanced Media & Liminal Apps

ZoomISOpaid

Five speakers in Zoom are five separate signals in the switcher, each with isolated audio. The director works with them like studio cameras, not with a gallery layout.

What it is

ZoomISO is a Liminal app for macOS that connects to a Zoom meeting and outputs the video and audio of every participant in isolation, as separate outputs for a broadcast system. Instead of one captured window with a gallery the director gets a source per person and builds the picture themselves: in vMix, OBS, on an ATEM switcher or in any system that accepts NDI, SDI or SRT.

Outputs are software and hardware. Software: NDI, Metal Syphon and SRT. Hardware: Blackmagic cards over SDI and SMPTE 2110, display output with DisplayLink emulation, AJA cards over SDI and HDMI. Audio goes out per channel to any multichannel device: Dante Virtual Soundcard, Loopback, BlackHole, the embedded audio of the cards, or is embedded in each participant's NDI and SRT stream.

One Mac delivers about 16 feeds at 1080p and 30 frames per second. The Lite edition is limited to four outputs, Pro is limited only by hardware. Part of the Enhanced Media add-on together with ZoomOSC, which controls what ZoomISO outputs.

Requirements
  • A Mac with the ZoomISO app from version 3.0.0
  • NDI, SRT, Syphon or a Blackmagic and AJA card
  • A multichannel audio device: Dante, Loopback, BlackHole
  • An Enhanced Media licence assigned to the user
  • About 16 feeds at 1080p from one instance

Zoom on air like studio cameras

Screen capture gives one picture with someone else's layout and mixed audio. Isolated feeds give the director freedom.

A source for each person

Every participant is a separate video output. The director puts the speaker full screen and the moderator in the corner without asking Zoom.

Audio per channel

Each participant's audio on its own Dante channel or NDI track. The sound engineer mixes, compresses and sends it to the hall, as from microphones.

Into any system

NDI for IP production, SDI for a classic control room, SRT for transport over the internet. Nothing to rebuild.

Capabilities

What you get from ZoomISO

Outputs, audio, capacity, editions

Isolated feeds

Each participant's video and audio separate from the rest. Zoom's gallery and layout do not affect the outputs.

NDI, Syphon, SRT

Software outputs: NDI for the network, Metal Syphon for apps on the same Mac, SRT for transport over the internet to another control room.

SDI, HDMI, 2110

Blackmagic Desktop Video cards over SDI and SMPTE 2110, display output with DisplayLink, AJA cards over SDI and HDMI. A classic control room without rebuilding.

Audio per channel

The audio export chain is configured to any multichannel device: Dante Virtual Soundcard, Loopback, BlackHole, the embedded audio of the cards.

Audio inside the stream

A participant's audio is embedded in their NDI or SRT stream. One source in the switcher carries both picture and voice.

Capacity

About 16 feeds at 1080p and 30 frames per second from one instance. More participants means a second Mac.

Lite and Pro

Lite up to 4 outputs, Pro with no limit on the number of outputs, the hardware sets the ceiling. Chosen by the size of the event.

Paired with ZoomOSC

ZoomOSC controls who is spotlighted and who is on air, ZoomISO outputs. Together they turn Zoom into a controllable source.

Requirements and availability

A Mac, the app from version 3.0.0, an Enhanced Media add-on licence per user. Hardware outputs over SMPTE 2110 and through AJA cards are in beta. Paid.

Scenes

Where it works

Wherever Zoom sits in the control room

01

A television studio

A guest over Zoom goes out over SDI with isolated audio. For the switcher and the sound engineer they are no different from a studio camera.

02

A hybrid conference

Remote speakers on the hall screens as separate sources. The director switches them, audio goes to the hall on its own channels.

03

A corporate broadcast

Executives from different cities in one picture assembled by the director, not by Zoom's layout.

04

An online course with several teachers

Each teacher as a separate window in vMix or OBS, the presentation as a separate layer.

05

Transport to another control room

A stream over SRT goes through the internet to a partner's studio or a streaming venue.

06

Deployment with RightConf

Choosing the Mac and cards for the number of participants, configuring outputs and the audio chain with the customer's engineer, pairing with ZoomOSC, a test broadcast. Then support in Russian.

Where it is used

Typical scenarios

Television

Remote guests on air look like studio cameras.

Hybrid conference

The room and remote speakers are mixed into a single picture.

Training broadcasts

The instructor and the material are separate sources.
